Well Done Pono Pod for Hosting a Brilliant and Fun Assembly

Pono Pod had so much fun hosting assembly on Friday. Well done to Christo, Millie, George, and Grace for being wonderful presenters who spoke with confidence and clarity. We also had some creative camera-confident children help to create our video presentation 'What is happening in our School?' It was incredibly fun to see Fionn, Isla, Liam, Victoria, Katya and Sahil up on stage dancing and singing to Justin Timberlake's 'Can't Stop this Feeling', and to have our whole pod stand up to join in. We loved seeing the smiles on your faces and hearing the applause from the school!

Here is our video presentation and photo slideshow that our pod made.

We will also upload a brief video of our pod singing and dancing to 'Can't Stop this Feeling'...keep an eye out for this!

Reminders for the Pod

Poetry Books - These are brought home every Friday to be shared with family over the weekend. Your childs poetry book needs to be returned to the Poetry box in Homeroom 3 each Monday morning.   During the week the new poem of the week is practised, added and creatively illustrated, then taken home to share over the weekend.

Swimming - Please be aware that Pono Pod swimming days are Mondays and Tuesdays.   It is very important that togs and towels (plus goggles if required) are bought along on these days - even if you think it might rain.  The weather is so unpredictable, it is better to be prepared.

All About Me Poster - These are up in the classroom and being shared by the children, developing great connections and information within the Pod.  If you haven't been able to return one, please let your Pod teacher know ASAP.

Emails - Please let us know if you haven't received ANY emails from a Pono Pod teacher this year.

Any questions or queries, we are happy to help.

Nina, Gwen, Nicole and Jo

Fridays - Shared Brainfood

Every Friday, Pono Pod children put a piece of fruit or a vegetable into the shared 'Brainfood Box'.   This is cut up and put onto tables to share.   We say a Karakia together, clean our hands and take turns sharing the kia, using tongs to get something we want.

Movement Videos

In Pono Pod we love using videos on youtube for our daily movement. We enjoy learning how to move our bodies to stay fit and healthy while having fun! The best thing about these videos is we can dance to them at home with our whanau too! Check out these videos that we have been using in class that you can use at home too :)

Happy Dancing!! :)

Problem-Solving: Goldilocks New Bed

The children in Pono Pod are learning about different materials, and how they can be used.  After hearing the story of 'Goldilocks and the 3 Bears',  the Pono Pod children collaborated in pairs, planning and designing a new bed for Goldilocks.
